Doing the Most Good: Meet The Good Acre, MN’s Largest Local Food Hub in St. Paul

Story and videography by Sarah Carroll

A healthier, more equitable, local food system. That’s what The Good Acre, Minnesota’s largest food hub located in St. Paul, is all about.

What’s a food hub and why does it matter on the path to a more just food system? A local food hub brings together food from many local farmers and food makers, briefly stores it at a centralized warehouse, and then gets that food out to where the community needs it most- like CSA boxes, food banks, schools, and local institutions.

Because let’s face it- it can be incredibly challenging for small, emerging, and BIPOC farmers to access the markets and infrastructure to get their sustainable food to people’s plates. The Good Acre makes it easy for both emerging farmers and local institutions to support each other.

That’s why, when our friends at The Good Acre brought on Greener Pastures to make a video about their critical work, we were beyond excited!

We hope you’ll check out the video, learn from farmers like Jane Windsperger and Rodrigo Cala about the importance of The Good Acre in our community, and get more involved to support their mission.
